At our house, the first weekend in October is a very anticipated event. I look forward to it because it is general conference and my husband looks forward to it because it is the opening day of the duck hunt. Some years, the opening day is a complete blow out and they don't even see any ducks flying. This year, both Dillon and my dad shot their limit.
This year Dillon and my dad were a little nervous about the opening day because the bird refuge, where many hunters go, was closed down due to the government shutdown. So that meant many hunters would be encroaching upon their favorite spot to go. So, to ensure they go their spot, they got up and headed out around 3:30 in the morning. Way too early if you ask me. They had a lot of fun though and were able to shoot quite a bit.
However, they went out again this past weekend and had a bust. Dillon shot one duck and missed at another. My dad didn't even have an opportunity to shoot. But, they still had a lot of fun.
And of course, we have to start getting Easton use to the ducks and so when they brought home that first round of birds, Easton sure had a lot of fun grabbing their beaks and petting their feathers. He doesn't think ducks are too bad.

Yep! Way too early! I love that your dad and Dillon are tight enough to go hang out and hunt together!
